YVETTE MARQUEZ-SHARPNACK

On-camera host, a home chef, an Emmy-winning producer and writer.

Yvette is an on-camera host, a home chef, an Emmy-winning producer and writer, award-winning food blogger, and author of Muy Bueno co-written with her mother Vangie and sister Veronica, published in 2012, Latin Twist co-written with Vianney from Sweet Life, published in 2015, and her latest cookbook Muy Bueno Fiestas

Yvette shares delicious home-style Mexican recipes served with a heaping spoonful of heartwarming family stories. For her, food has become a way to share my cultural heritage and childhood memories with her family.

Mexican food and culture have always been a big part of her life. As a young girl, Yvette remembers learning to cook with her mom, Vangie, and her grandma, Jesusita. But it wasn’t until her grandmother passed away in 2004, at the age of 98, that Yvette realized just how passionate she really was about keeping her culture alive in her own family.

It was then that she realized, if she didn’t cook, her family recipes would disappear. Instead, Yvette decided to celebrate traditional Mexican foods and holidays with her children so they could appreciate the rich and unique heritage of Mexico.

Now, her children help her in the kitchen when she cook, and they love hearing stories of Yvette's childhood. One day as they were eating dinner, Yvette's daughter, Maya asked if she planned to have all their recipes written down for her so that she can make them after she leaves for college. She was just 8 years old at the time, but it really made Yvette think about how she could preserve these recipes for her children’s future. She turned to her mother and said, “Mom, let’s write a cookbook!” and that’s how it all started.
